Dr Freya Summons

Freya completed her medical training with honours at Monash University in 2007. Subsequently she undertook her specialist paediatric training, predominately at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s Hospital. During her training she gained broad experience across a vast range of paediatric disciplines including neonatology, cardiology, adolescent medicine, oncology, gastroenterology and mental health. Freya has worked in many different health settings including inpatient, emergency, community and rural practices ensuring vast experience in complex medical care. Freya enjoys caring for children of all ages from neonates to adolescents with acute or chronic medical conditions.
Freya is currently pursuing a PhD in neonatal immunology and is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-orientated care that focuses upon the needs of the child and their family. Freya also has a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Education and is involved in teaching trainee-doctors and medical students as well as teaching resuscitation on the Advanced Paediatric Life Support course several times a year.
Outside of medicine, Freya has two young children and loves cooking and music.
